IAPAs 2012
Brazilian rental company Mills Rental was the winner of the Rental Company of the Year at this year's International Awards for Powered Access (IAPAs).
Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to Gerhard Hillebrand, IPAF's Italian representative and, posthumously, to Lars-Petter Godenhielm, who was a past president of IPAF and managing director of Dinolift.
Over 400 industry professionals from almost all continents including Europe, North and South America and East Asia attended the awards ceremony which took place on 29 March 2012 at the Sheraton Hotel in Rome, Italy.
The IAPAs are jointly organised by Access International and IPAF. The next IAPAs will be held on 26 March 2013 in Miami, Florida, USA. Watch for event details here.
IPAF SUMMIT 2012
"Analysing Accidents to Reduce Accidents" was the theme of the IPAF Summit held on 29 March 2012 in Rome, Italy.
Andy Studdert, CEO of NES Rentals, reminded management who were "tired of being lucky" of some critical lessons -- implementing repeatable processes, a culture of intervention, and crisis preparation.
Another first-class presentation was given by Peter Douglas, executive director of operations at UK-based Nationwide Platforms, who took the brave step of sharing his company's accident data. He called on all in the industry to report accidents as a first step to keeping employees safe.
